An agent recently called me with a question as to how a premium auditor would classify a risk that is hired by land owners to manage and oversee the construction of commercial office buildings on the properties they own.  He was not sure if he should use code 41620 Construction or Project Manager or code 91580 Executive Supervisor.  After asking many questions, it was determined that the insured was acting as a general contractor and code 91580 Executive Supervisor would best represent the operations of the insured as they were not only hiring the subcontractors, but also directly supervising them, and paying the subcontractors for their services.

Side note… Code 41620 Construction or Project Manager is based on sales, or construction management fees, whereas Code 91580 Executive Supervisor is based on payroll.

Below is a video titled:

A Day in the Life: Construction Project Management

Please remember, the title project manager may mean different things to different contractors, thus it is very important for the premium audit to ask many questions.
